I answer reader questions on Thursdays, and today, I’m responding to the reader who posted this question for me:
Our adopted daughter will turn 18 this month. Part of the adoption subsidy was Medicaid coverage. She is now on her last month of Medicaid. We can’t add her to our insurance; we are retired and have retiree health coverage from a former employer. So many insurance companies tell me they won’t even take an application for her until she is 19 and in college. The only thing I have found is a program that requires she not have any insurance for 6 months. Can you help?
